Loxodromic navigation : ウィキペディア英語版 | Loxodromic navigation
The loxodromic navigation (related to loxodromic course -from the Greek '' λοξóς '' and -oblic- '' δρóμος '' - path-), it's a way to navigate following a rhumb line which is the curve on the surface of the Earth that follows the same angle at the intersection with each Meridian, which serves to maintain a steady course in sailing. When navigating on the spherical surface with the same course () in the figure, describes a spiral that leads inexorably to the North pole for courses ranging from 270º to 090º and to the south pole for courses from 090º to 270º. In a nautical chart plotted according with the Mercator projection a loxodromic course appears as a straight line. == Comparison Chart ==
